Hell yeah... I'd love to talk about both these little freaks
Generally my personal au/headcanon just to the left of canon vibe about William is that it's less that he's particularly cruel or vicious (at first) but he's just... somebody who want to be in control of his own little world to the point of... *gestures at all that.* Like I like to think of the earliest part of his scheming is just sort of a desire to make a dollhouse of all the things he's fixated on, with complete control over it, which is at first sated by robots, until the first murder (semi-accidental) and discovering the supernatural effects of it, after which it becomes an obsession to create a "living" creation (and of course a refusal to bear the guilt and reality of taking so many lives... they aren't REALLY dead.).
It's incredibly thorny to ascribe real life disorders to fictional mass-murderers so I try not to, but I've had an abiding headcanon that a traumatic brain injury and resulting personality change in adolescence is a big part of it. Not that he was born inherently evil, or it's something he couldn't overcome in any scenario, but it being *part of it.*
Also, I feel like I just don't see enough of the scary whimsy! I think he's a little boring if solely a lumbering, sadistic slasher or cold and calculating mastermind. Evil clownish little freak is a horror staple for a reason, and that's how I like my William best, which I feel like in the video game canon, Glitchtrap is such a great example of, mocking and prancing, creating this jumbled maze of stolen assets to lure the player out and show them what he does with his victims. I like that. I also don't really count Glitchtrap quite as William anymore, but I think that does inform what I like about the character, in addition to the bits of TSE canon I've picked up here and there. I don't much care for the books overall but stuff like not talking until they put the bonnie head on him and singing menacing little songs and claiming that the dead forget (they didn't)... it's pretty good at illustrating the edges of the danger while leaving the rest in shadow, and I do think that's interesting.
Really, my notes for an au are just... knock off the lich shtick, do something more satisfying with William dying, and something that is Not William Anymore remaining rather than continuing to literally trot out his corpse.
And Henry... Ah, Henry, my beloved.
Number one headcanon with a bullet: HENRY WENT TO PRISON FOR THE MURDERS IN THE 80S AND WAS LATER EXONERATED DUE TO NEW FORENSIC EVIDENCE. There being a convicted murderer was the whole reason the 2020s brand revival could start to happen, and the fact that interest was reawakened in the case, new stuff came out, and fazbear could fold it into their terrifying hypebeast is so close to canon for me that i don't even know how to interpret the series without it anymore. Hell, the real freddy fazbear killer can even be agreed to be william at this point (not that anyone can quite prove it), but the most fun space to play in with the ghoulishness is it seeming like it's in the past, and it very much isn't.
Number FUN headcanon: Henry was frightguard. This kind of falls apart on certain levels but you can't deny that it's VERY satisfying, especially with how utterly disabling the puppet hallucination is.
Other loose headcanons: uhhh my faceclaim for younger henry is more or less youtuber Big Joel (i go the opposite way of contrastingly slim and burly that these headcanons usually do because I am a wise holder of the truth that william was fat when he was younger), he is extremely bad at masking (part of the "evidence" against him -- he didn't have the "right" responses to being interrogated about the murders) (further sidebar on that... it is terrifying how evidence is concocted within our fucked up justice system based EXCLUSIVELY on the bullshit chicanery that is behavior analysis. Again, not a topic i really want to apply lightly to the halloween spooky ghost robot franchise, but it does creep in a bit), and while he wasn't friendly with mike in the franchise venture and didn't get like... written consent to mercy kill him like a rabid dog, he still researched and experimented enough to be mostly sure he was doing the right thing.
Last sidebar in general before i wrap this up: while i think you can make some arguments way later in the series that the sentient animatronics are like... capable of having a quality of life that would make their destruction immoral, I think that is very much not the case for any of the original two trilogies. The dead came back wrong. Whatever's left of Elizabeth is a hunter and killer, Charlie and Cassidy are leaving swaths of collateral damage, Mike is a literal rotting corpse. I don't actually much care for the reading of pizza sim where it's like a big dramatic murder suicide that henry's doing out of spite, and i don't much care for how i've seen some people talk about the fact that he's suicidal, like it's something he's choosing to do out of selfishness. Also too real for the furrybait jumpscare game! But I live in hell!!!!!!!!!!
In that i think that henry's a foil for william, it's less that he's good and william is evil, but william has done this unspeakable cruelty to all these children for nothing but to perpetuate himself or his own vision, and henry is destroying himself to undo it. There's still blood on henry's hands by several different metrics (i absolutely he believe that by pizza sim era, he would kill someone to prevent this knowledge from getting into their hands, because look at what it's DONE), but like... Idk it just reads as a little contrarian to me to reevaluate henry as a secret villian just because too many people headcanoned him as a loving dad and good guy despite the rest of canon.
(tse henry aside because def some of the stuff there is because of plot necessity and "actually this thing happening in a YA novel is fucked up and abusive if it was happening to a real child" logic that's just kind of unavoidable in YA)

What's your interpretation of overhaul compared to the popular fanon?
the popular fanon of tumblr is dom top doctor sugar daddy self shipping calling u ''angel''
the semi-popular fanon of people who ship him with other characters is still usually having him as a dom top, cold ruthless boundary crossing dubcon dabi whump. other characters? idk i dont read or surround myself with anything else but obviously shigahaul would be a bit different and obvs this also changes whether or not he has his arms or not, which brings me to naganthaul where it's people's fantasy strong woman (mirko kind of gets this too) and the broken traumatized husk of a ''bad problematic character'' that some ppl feel like means her calling him a faggot is good and cool, and im kind of glad it's quieted down with that pairing.
there's honestly just not that much chronohaul/i dont read a lot of it but what is see is like, honestly pretty chaste childhood friends to lovers type stuff tbh
there's like one person who does nemotohaul and they draw a doctor's office au where overhaul has giant tiddies and wears panties and i literally wish them nothing but the best and happiness in life (satori on twit)
i used to be way more up-to-date and in the culture of shipping/bnha/fic stuff and probably better equipped to answer this question but its been like, idk 4 years or something now into bnha and dabihaul and overhaul like...... which interpretation of him do you want lol. we've got like so many interations of aus and the canon compliant aus like the things rattling around in his little pink brain and what i think makes him tick and how.......
he's so obsessed with control and his construction of his little world and exerting power over it, it his quirk perfectly reflects that. he is so uptight his ass could turn coal into a diamond. speaking of, he would never put his dick in anyone i truly believe that. u would need to gargle antiseptics before u could blow him. the desperate grasp he has on control and his routines in his little dainty white gloves has to break it has to be broken if necessary. his kind of ugly business man and also baby phat brand ambassador fashion... his one ear peirced, his lashes, his ALL MEN ORGANIZATION everything is so sterile and like. repression is one thing but his whole 8pods base was built because he was stuck in the closet and started to DIG. daily affirmations are ''i am in control i am going to change the world and i am masc''.
but im also like, not taking myself seriously because im not that smart im not a writer im not that good at explaining things and why would i be explaining things from 4 yrs ago that im still on and talking about n stuff they're all concrete to me. but also i like to have fun. but also my specific tastes in playing dollhouse with fictional characters is also like, i've refaced and customized a bratz doll and thats my little malewife girlboy wife husband catboy catgirl baby bird. yknow what i mean.

2. Top 5 overrated TV shows
Honestly, I tend to not watch really popular shows that I have no interest in (Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Grey’s Anatomy, etc. etc. etc.), so I don’t technically know if they’re overrated or not because I haven’t seen them!
With that, I will present you with:
Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones
Everyone who wasn’t a writer on this show – specifically a writer with the initial D – you did amazing and I love you! D&D: YA OVERRATED GARBAGE.
3. Top 5 underrated TV shows
THE DURRELLS IN CORFU (This show is literally joy encapsulated, y’all. I feel weird being alone with like seven other people, one of whom is fictional character Captain Raymond Holt, in loving this show w/ all my heart.)
Catastrophe (Bickery marital masterpiece of my heart)
AP Bio (which apparently … isn’t canceled anymore????)
Last Man on Earth (Still mad about that cancelation cliffhanger!)
HUNDERBY (The most shocking thing mine two eyes and mine two ears and mine one brain has ever known. Only Shakespeare and Amy Sherman Palladino have wielded language with as much power as this show.)
7. Top 5 fandoms
Historically over all of my fangirl time these past many years (18-ish years to be precise; God help us), I’d say my favorites to participate in have been:
Harry Potter
Buffyverse
Dollhouse (D/D 4 LIFE!!! The little rarepair that could.)
Gilmore Girls
Grace and Frankie
Runners up: The Office (and really all of the Golden Era of Thursday Night TV on NBC shows), Reign, Merlin, a bunch of others I can’t think of right now!
8. Top 5 worst fandoms
Honestly, I don’t know if I have a list! Anything with a lot of fighting or a lot of the fandom caring about one random dude the most even though it’s a show that focuses more on female characters in canon brings me great weariness.
45. Top 5 dramas
Gilmore Girls (I’m counting it as a drama w/ the amount of drama it put me through, y’all.)
Last Tango in Halifax (Even though this show made the worst plot choice ever, I just find it SO engrossing, and so masterful how simple stories about this family can be so totally … engrossing! I’m bad at words today! It’s SUPER smoky outside! But this show is so well acted and, for the most part, so well written. When, ya know, Sally Wainwright wasn’t busy making the most terrible writing decision ever.)
The Handmaid’s Tale (Season 3 was not great, but this is definitely one of the drama series I am the most invested in.)
Downton Abbey (I hate ever so many of this show’s choices, and I bet I’ll hate whatever the movie throws at us next month, but also … it’s Downton.)
Dead to Me (Despite its half hour run time, I just feel like this show isn’t quite a comedy, and I also feel that it is a MASTERPIECE.)

Busting “Phineas and Ferb Get Busted”
“Phineas and Ferb get Busted” isn’t a considered a canon episode, as the entire thing takes place inside of Perry’s dream, with only one real scene at the very end. But the events in that episode give us valuable insight into Perry’s psyche and his relationship with his family. The latter has always been difficult to see, as Perry spends most of the average episode with his nemesis. By analyzing this episode, however, we can see what Perry’s fears are, what he thinks of his family, and the things from his life that have bleed into his subconscious.
What can we infer about Perry’s psyche? First of all- the obvious. We see some of his fears. I have a headcanon that this episode took place the night after “Cheers for Fears”, and that Perry was thinking of what his fears really were (he was quite scared when the -inator was firing up, probably wondering if something would happen to his family) and that this all got reflected into his dream. Perry is scared of his boys’ spirit and imaginations being crushed, and them becoming dull and average (as we again see in “Phineas and Ferb Interrupted”) because he loves their imaginations and ingenuity (“Across the Second Dimension”). We also see that he cares very much about Candace, and about her relationship with her brothers. More on that later. And last, but certainly not least, the O.W.C.A. team breaking into the Flynn-Fletcher residence to wipe the family’s memories and relocate Perry. We see his fear of losing his family several times in the show’s run- most notably in “Oh, There You Are Perry” and “Across the Second Dimension”. What’s most interesting is that that segment of the dream is what causes him to wake up, and Phineas realizes he was having a bad dream at this point- he could probably feel Perry moving around. So, it is safe to say that we can confirm Perry’s worst fear to be losing his loved ones.
Another thing we learn is that Perry undoubtedly knows about the talking zebra calling Candace Kevin ("The Ballad of Badbeard"). How else could he have dreamed it up? My favorite headcanon from the world of the (amazing) ‘Ask Perry Fletcher’ blog is that Candace is transgender and her birth name is Kevin. This I attach to the theory of the talking zebra being Candace’s old imaginary friend, and voila, we get Perry remembering Candace’s childhood insecurities and troubles in his dream. Another headcanon of mine is that Perry’s a source of comfort to all three Flynn-Fletcher kids, and that they talk or rant to him when they're having a tough time. I believe Dream-Candace’s confession that she is proud to be Phineas and Ferb’s older sister is something she actually feels in real life, and this does support her concern for her brothers and how much closer she gets to them in later episodes. The Flynn-Fletcher children assume Perry doesn’t understand anything, so he’s safe to rant to. We know this isn’t true, and all these anxieties, on top of his nemesis’s horrible backstories, end up bleeding into his dreams.
Perry seems to know his family very well. The first time I watched this episode, I seriously wondered if Heinz would have an ‘amnesia-inator’ to erase what happened that day. The characters were in character, and it seemed quite real. Even Stacy’s odd behavior at the end of ‘Little Brothers’ can be explained by subconscious symbolism. Stacy is always Candace’s voice of reason. She helps her stay grounded and focused, such as in “Robot Rodeo”. The logical side of Candace’s mind wants her to enjoy the freedom of not having to deal with her brothers every day. However, after Stacy walks away, Candace is helped by Jeremy, who is her crush and therefore the representation of her more emotional side. He even says that he’s “always liked her brothers”- Candace really does love her brothers, deep down, and what Perry knows of her emotional side is acknowledged in this scene.
Perry seems to think Linda will initially be angry at Phineas and Ferb should she see their inventions. Instead, in the bad future of “Quantum Boogaloo”, and before she got zapped by the ‘forget-about-it-inator’ in “A Real Boy”, she panics in her worry for her sons. We see this side of her again in “What Do it Do” when she acts similar to Candace when faced with something unknown that may be threatening her family.
Perry also seems to be a realistic dreamer, as the only continuity errors I could find were small- such as the dancing trophy appearing in the living room when it was previously in Candace’s room and Candace driving the flying car when Jeremy is older than her and had his licence by ‘My Sweet Ride’.
Something I noticed in my most recent rewatch of the episode is that the first few scenes of ‘Little Brothers’ are still frames, as if they were photos. We know Perry was not adopted until some time after Linda and Lawrence’s marriage (“Across the Second Dimension”), so it is entirely plausible Perry is recalling photos from albums and not his memories. In the first moving sequence in the song (the scene where Phineas and Ferb have been shown to rebuild Candace’s dollhouse) the children seem to be around the same age as they were when Perry was adopted. So, this could possibly be a real memory that Perry had from his youth.
This next point somewhat supports my headcanon that the episodes are not aired in the order they occur in the show’s universe. The haircuts the boys are given upon arrival resemble those they had in the alternate dimension in “Across the Second Dimension”. They also act somewhat similar to their dystopian counterparts, but while Phineas-2 and Ferb-2 grew up under creatively oppressing laws and were taught against imagination, Dream Phineas and Ferb seemed more robotic and brainwashed. I could go on and on about this, perhaps write a whole new meta on the second dimension, but I digress. The point is, both pairs of brothers believed creativity and fun to be wrong, though in different ways. Perhaps there’s no difference to Perry.
When the boys are being taught to not reach for tools, they are sprayed with water. You’ve probably seen this in other cartoons- an animal is sprayed with water as negative reinforcement for bad behavior. To me, at least, this seemed odd. Considering how hard the boys fight against the Smile Away Reformatory’s imagination-crushing treatment, it seems to be highly unlikely that water is the breaking point. Of course, I am not well versed in torture techniques, and being sprayed with water is safe to show on children’s television, and repeated negative reinforcement was what probably led the boys to give up. Still, it is an unusual choice. So, why the water? Perry works with a variety of other animals, and many, especially new agents, may have bad habits due to not being properly trained by their owners or the O.W.C.A. The agency probably uses spray bottles to break bad habits in agents, and though they probably don’t go to the extent of what we saw the Drill Sergeant do, and though the purpose was certainly not the same, it must have been something that Perry’s mind inserted into his dream.
Perry has a wonderful character arc throughout the series. He goes from having little more than disdain for his nemesis and affection for his family to becoming a vital part of Heinz’s life and becoming a sort of ‘guardian angel’ figure to his host family. We see many different sides of Perry as the show progresses, and this episode helps tremendously with his characterization-something difficult to see with the secret agent’s inability to speak. Analyzing this episode has shown us what Perry’s subconscious is like, what his fears are, what he thinks of his family, and what little things stick in his brain. It’s always helpful to get inside your character's heads, and ‘Phineas and Ferb Get Busted’ helped me understand Perry more. This, I hope, can help me should I write about him. Perry is so dynamic and so intriguing, so shrouded in mystery due to his silence, and, while probably a joke or unintentional, in this episode the authors have given us a peek at what goes on inside the platypus’s mind.

@swiftjolras tagged me in this fic writer meme, thanks buddy! Also because B and I do a lot of cowriting, I’m going to try to stick to the ones that only I have written for this meme. I guess if somebody wants I can do one about our cowritten stuff separately...? but I feel like this is a fair restriction.
Name: Megan
Fandoms: I mean. Do you want my like, current fandoms I write for or all the fandoms I’ve written for EVER? Actually the latter might be fun let’s do that! I think of my fanfic writing life as having 3 phases: the stuff I wrote when I was a little kid and didn’t know what fanfic was (Winnie the Pooh, Aladdin); the stuff I wrote as a middle/high schooler on ff.net (Cyberchase, The Princess Diaries, The Incredibles, LOTR, X-Men, Pirates of the Caribbean); and the stuff I’ve posted on AO3 in college and beyond (Doctor Who, Dollhouse, Alphas, RPF*, MCU - particularly Agents of SHIELD and Daredevil, Firefly, Once Upon a Time, Kingsman, Wreck-it-Ralph, Terminator: Dark Fate). I actually used to be a BNF in Incredibles fandom, which is hilarious in retrospect as my fic was very bad BUT it was an incredible ego boost for a fourteen-year-old who loved writing! At the moment I mostly write for SHIELD and Dark Fate, with detours into other random gay shit as I feel like it.
*cancel me for my T-rated stories from 2013 I DARE YOU
Where You Post: my AO3 is here and I have a writing blog here that I link stuff from although I’m bad at updating it lol
Most Popular One-Shot: According to hits, by a hair it’s you are the ditch I tumbled into running blind, the first Skimmons fic I ever wrote AND the first Skimmons fic posted on AO3. Although my high school AU has a couple hundred more kudos. They are both 7 years old! That’s wild.
Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: Again, taking out mallverse which is cowritten and would be the obvious winner at over 40k hits over 6 years, it’s and for once you let go of your fears and your ghosts, which is my Victoria/Isabelle fix-it. It has over 800 hits and 47 kudos, which for a femslash ship in this fandom that isn’t popular at all is pretty damn good! (I wish it was my Kara fix-it, but what can you do when fandom is bad lol.)
Favorite Story You’ve Written: I talk about say you will, the Endgame Natasha/Laura fix-it, a lot, because it took me months to write and was born out of not only my hatred of Endgame but years of pent-up anger and frustration at how Natasha is treated in both canon and fandom. It’s probably my most personal fic - I wrote it as both a redemptive tribute for this character that I’ve loved for almost a decade and a goodbye to her. I got to fill in the blanks of Laura’s character that canon didn’t bother to address, and I made all three Barton kids autistic and gave them all traits that I and my brother and my friends have. I also had to write a lot of very uncomfortable emotions that I haven’t really dealt with in my writing too much and that was interesting and challenging. I know it won’t ever get the attention I’d like it to, but I still love it so much.
Story You Were Nervous to Post: lol all the Terminator porn, I’m not linking it again, y’all can find it, porn is scary bye
How You Choose Your Titles: I am shameless and steal lyrics. Terminator fics all have Carly Rae Jepsen lyrics, I also use TSwift and Marian Call a lot.
Complete: 50 exactly! And a couple dozen more I cowrote with B as well (mostly one-shots).
Incomplete: 5, at least one of which I should really go back and mark complete just because it’s a billion years old and I’ll probably never go back to it lol. But Three Lawyers and a Little Lady will definitely get updated someday because I love my Daredevil Accidental Baby Acquisition AU! And I have a shitton ongoing that B and I are working on together as well.
Do You Outline: Not usually for one-shots, but like, I ran into a real problem with say you will where I kept thinking of scenes that needed to be added and having to write them, and there were a couple of scenes that I had to sort of Frankenstein in because I’d written them early on and I wanted to include them real bad but they didn’t “technically” fit anywhere (I wonder if readers can tell lol). So I try to outline for long-running stuff because if I don’t it just goes extremely off the rails.
Coming Soon / Not Yet Started: I am in the middle of two right now: a Star Wars Jannah/Rose horse girls fic where they bond while riding orbaks and also kiss, and Halt and Catch Fire Donna/Cameron where Donna drags Cam to a PFLAG meeting to try and figure out how to talk to her lesbian daughter and everyone thinks they’re a couple (spoiler: they don’t know they are yet). These are the random gay shit detours I mentioned earlier. More on brand, I have at least one more Terminator porn in my brain and also a fluffy one where Grace proposes to Dani and Carl officiates their wedding. OH I FORGOT i was supposed to write a Charlie’s Angels 2019 fic where Sabina brought home a dog and the other two were like ????. I feel like that one will be pretty easily once I just sit down and do it because their voices seem pretty straightforward
Do You Accept Prompts: Um, I’m not like...I don’t want to say I’ll never do prompts, I once wrote Steve/Bucky as quarterback/cheerleader AU because my friend asked me to. But I don’t typically solicit them. The shit I like writing is usually way too random for people to think of lol.
Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited To Write: This is a someday-fic, but I swear I will write an epic redemption story for my beloved monster child Ruby Hale where she lives and becomes the Zuko of the group and also Daisy’s weird little protege and she and Elena are never like, close, and Elena doesn’t have to forgive her, and that’s okay. I just feel like they set her up as a perfect Ward foil and then really dropped the ball.
tagging uhhhh @unwind-myself @swashbucklery @amidalleia @allofthefeelings I forget which of my friends write fanfic anymore lololol if I tag you in this and you don’t VERY SORRY MY BAD also like, if you want to do this and pretend I tagged you please do!
